IT'S SKIN MONTH!

Many of our pets live with some form of skin condition, and these can often be difficult and frustrating to get to the bottom of

Many factors can contribute to skin disease:

Parasites: Fleas, Demodex Mites, Scabies, Dust Mites etc.

Atopy: Similar to hay fever seen in humans - our pets are allergic to something in the air such as pollen.

Contact allergies: Pets can often be allergic to something they come into direct contact with, such as grass, cleaning solutions, metal or plastic bowls etc.

Food allergies: Usually related to particular proteins or carbohydrates.

But don’t worry, we’re here to help!

For the month of October receive the following specials:

HAPPY VET NURSE DAY!

This Friday 9th October, we take the opportunity to celebrate our brilliant team of Veterinary Nurses and thank them for everything they do!

You probably have a pretty good idea what your Veterinarian does, but how much do you know about the Nurses that work along beside them?

From triaging emergencies, managing reception duties and dodging cat swipes - a Nurse's job begins the second they walk through the door.

Throughout the day a Nurse will play the role of Anaesthetist, Dental Technician, Nutritionist, Pathologist and Wildlife Carer. They'll spend considerable time cleaning up after critically ill patients, scrubbing surgical instruments and answering phone calls. While puppy and kitten smooches are always in abundance, it's not uncommon for their day to end saddened by the passing of a cherished pet and favourite patient.

For our team of Veterinary Nurses, it's not just a job - it's a passion that has been a part of them for as long as they can remember. They genuinely love what they do. They love making a difference to the lives of their patients and the families that take care of them. Without the skill sets, dedication and tireless efforts of these beautiful humans - we simply couldn't offer the high standard of pet care that we do.

THANK YOU TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU XXX

HIP HIP HOORAY!

This month we wish Nurse Tayla a very Happy Birthday - we're looking forward to sharing a slice of cake (or two)!

MEET THE TEAM

Most of you would know our senior Nurse Mel - she’s been a part of the team here at NWVC for over 10 years!

Mel has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has a keen interest in surgical nursing and hand raising kittens

Mel has quite the menagerie at home - dogs, cats, birds and lizards, turtles, ducks and horses!

In her spare time, Mel is a keen horse rider, and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
